Terre MĂȘlĂ©e Scalloped Platter - Ocean (blue)
What a delight to find this divine work in this unique and nearly extinct art - Terre MĂȘlĂ©e is the art of combining stamped clays that are colored with oxides. This technique dates back to the 18th century and the plates final look are the result of many hours of highly skilled work.
Also available in corresponding dessert and dinner plates.
Clays are prepared slowly for no more than 3 to 4 plates at a time. Once moulded in their respective shapes, the clay is thinned by scraping, sanded at length before 2 rounds of firing with a transparent glaze. When complete, the result are these remarkable wonders of earth and fire.
Due to the fragility and limited quantity of pieces these items are FINAL SALE and may not be returned or exchanged.
